Philomena Ahey joins the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Accra Technical University training for Adenta Technicians in Onboard Diagnostics”

As part of their commitment to community service, the Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a training session for selected roadside mechanics in Adenta, located in the Greater Accra Region. The event, held on Monday, May 30th, 2022, took place at the department’s laboratory and workshop, focusing on enhancing the mechanics’ proficiency in utilizing the onboard diagnostics (OBD) tool effectively and efficiently.

The OBD system serves as a computerized mechanism that monitors and manages a vehicle’s operations. It collects data from various sensors within the vehicle’s network, enabling it to regulate automotive systems and alert the driver about potential issues.

The participants, namely Eric Anim and Kwaku Hammond Tarso, who specialize in general mechanical work and manual gearbox repairs respectively, were accompanied by Philomena Ahey, a voluntary community facilitator from the Complementary Education Agency. They expressed gratitude for the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills in their respective fields, displaying enthusiasm and confidence in the potential for future programs.

During the training session, Wisdom Kwame Anane, a technician at the department, provided theoretical and practical instruction to the beneficiaries. The training was supervised by Dr. Isaac Asempah, a teaching staff member at the department.
